security industry as a door supervisor or security guard. Aligned with the SIA specifications and
supported by Skills for Security, which sets the benchmarks for the industry, our Level 2 Door
Supervisor course provides a solid foundation in essential skills and qualifications.
By obtaining the Level 2 Door Supervisor qualification, you embark on the initial phase of securing an SIA Door Supervisor License, opening doors to a range of professional opportunities. 

With a valid SIA Door Supervisor License, you gain access to different work opportunities, from retail security to working the doors in different venues.
Once you obtained your Level 2 Door Supervisor you will be able to carry out other activities such as working as key holders and static security guard.

Our SIA Door Supervisor courses consist of four parts:
Part 1: Distance learning – self-study prior to the course start date
Part 2: Theoretical knowledge – classroom based
Part 3: Practical Assessment – classroom based
Part 4: Multiple choice examination – classroom based

  • Understand terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat
  • Understand how to keep vulnerable people safe
  • Understand good practice for post incident management
  • Understand crimes relevant to door supervision
  • Know how to conduct effective search procedures
  • Understand drug-misuse legislation, issues and procedures relevant to the role of a door supervisor
  • Understand preservation of evidence relevant to the role of a door supervisor
  • Understand licensing law relevant to the role of a door supervisor
  • Understand queue management and venue capacity responsibilities relevant to a door supervisor
  • Know how to use equipment relevant to a door supervisor
  • Understand the principles of conflict management appropriate to the role
  • Understand how to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations
  • Understand the use of problem-solving techniques when resolving conflict

To register for the course, all the candidates must be 18 and over.
One of the SIA requirements is that training centres must confirm that each learner is qualified in
First Aid or Emergency First Aid. Therefore, all candidates must show that they hold a current and valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid which meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
The First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate must be valid for at least 12 months from the course start date.
The candidates must present their First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate to M.I.S Academy before the start of the SIA Door Supervisor training.
If you don’t have these certificates, we can offer you a First Aid course and Emergency First Aid Training Course.

  • In order to pass the SIA Door supervisor course, you must sit four multiple choice question assessments.
  • Unit 1 – Principles of working in the private security industry you will be expected to answer 72 multiple choice questions and a pass mark of 51 questions.
  • Unit 2 – Principles of working as a door supervisor in the private security industry you will be expected to answer 50 multiple choice questions and a pass mark of 35 questions.
  • Unit 3 – Application of conflict management in the private security industry you will be expected to answer 20 multiple choice questions and a pass mark of 14 questions.
  • Unit 4 – Application of physical intervention skills in the private security industry you will b expected to answer 30 multiple choice questions and a pass mark of 24 questions.
Our pass rate at M.I.S is over 96% and we have a policy of NO PASS – RETAKE THE EXAM FOR FREE, so if you fail your exams, there is no charge for 2 retakes.
