Our SIA Door Supervisor Top Up courses consist of four parts:
Part 1: Distance learning – self study prior to the course start date
Part 2: Theoretical knowledge – classroom based
Part 3: Practical Assessment – classroom based
Part 4: Multiple choice examination – E-Assessment – classroom based.
Course content
The Course is spread over three mandatory units:
Unit 1: Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry
Unit 2: Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry
Unit 3 : Application of physical intervention skills in the private security industry
To register for the course, all the candidates must be 18 and over.
One of the SIA requirements is that training centres must confirm that each learner is qualified in First Aid or Emergency First Aid. Therefore, all candidates must show that they hold a current and valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid which meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
The First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate must be valid for at least 12 months from the course start date.
The candidates must present their First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate to M.I.S Academy before the start of the SIA Door Supervisor training.
If you don’t have have these certificates, we can offer you a First Aid course and Emergency First Aid Training Course.
In order to pass the SIA Door supervisor Top Up course, you must sit three multiple choice question assessments and two pratical assessments.
For Unit 1 – Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry you will be expected to answer 10 multiple choice examination questions (20 minutes). Pass mark = 70%
For Unit 2 – Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry you will be expected to answer 5 multiple choice examination questions (10 minutes). Pass mark = 70%.
Practical assessment: observation of using communications devices. Pass mark – 100%.
For Unit 3 – Application of physical intervention skills in the private security industry you will be expected to answer 30 multiple choice examination questions (45 minutes). Pass mark = 80%.
Practical assessment: observation of each learner performing every technique with an observation sheet and Q/A session to cover critical areas of PI knowledge.
Our pass rate at M.I.S is over 96% and we have a policy of NO PASS – RETAKE THE EXAM FOR FREE, so if you fail your exams, there is no charge for 2 retakes. Everything you need to know to pass the exams will be covered in the course and our experienced trainers will prepare you fully for the success in the exams.
